They had better STOP
"Officials agree to survey possible school site"
This is the Herald headline about the "school business". Do our elected School Board and County Commission read the newspapers?????????
Our Country, America, is on the verge of financial collapse and the LOCALLY elected officials think money is coming from some where, WHERE???????
I challenge you Locally elected Officials, to READ. This "Crush from the Top" comes with rules, regulations and mandates, that are "designed to Destroy" LOCALLY controlled Public Schools Systems. When all of this "mischief" has been "implemented", the buildings that you all have "placed the County taxpayers in debt for" will be used by Federal minions to "FORCE" US in our County to do those things which "are not convenient" and "FORCE" US to hire people who are "not" our people or to our "choosing".
BEWARE
Sure the upper levels of government will "give ideas of finance, and probably will give "seed money" for what purpose??????? To load more debt on the local taxpayers while they come in to "destroy US". Dictating is "their specialty", they will tell US what to do with "OUR STUFF".
We'll also be in trouble with the Lord because we know what many of their "rules, regulations, and guidelines" will include. Better stand against this now, while God is on our side. We know this enemy "FORCES" with the most unspeakable contrivances.
God Save Rhea County

Money Matter in New School - Herald
The Herald news article on the "Money Business" to the New High School.
Of course, we had the "financier" Mr. McNulty come back with his "TAXING proposals":
"In addition to the option of requesting sales tax money from Dayton, McAnulty's suggestions included increasing property taxes, capitalizing interest (borrowing more money to pay off interest during the first few years) and instituting a wheel tax. " What else can we tax???? That's Mr. McNulty's advise, UGH
But notice the article states:
Spring City Elementary NOT PAID
Graysville Elementary NOT PAID
Rhea County Medical Center NOT MENTIONED That was a $27 million project, finished 4 years ago, that we, the taxpayers, are the "underwriters" in that "money", if the hospital can not make its payments, we, the taxpayers are going to have to make up the difference.
IF WE DON'T HAVE IT, WE DON'T SPEND IT.

PS Ronnie wants the "core drilling" tests to be back before they continue on the "project", I hope they find "oil" or "gold" when the tests come back because we don't have the "money" for this "project".

High School Building PLUS
Also, in the consideration of this 'New High School' is the "remodeling of the Old High School", which has had some "talk" at meetings, but the subject was "dropped". WHERE WILL THAT MONEY COME FROM?????????
People, the "remodeling of the OLD high school" is not going to be "chicken feed". It will be another one of those "very expensive endeavors".
When they were still "discussing the remodeling of the OLD High School", they said it needed to be done about the same time as the NEW HIGH SCHOOL project????!!!!!!
So all these "projects" that cost "millions" are going to be coming at US, FAST.
STOP all of this. We do not have the MONEY and we cannot have more taxes, we are "TAPPED OUT".

Herald Poll Question
"Do you think Dayton should give up its sales tax revenue for the proposed new RCHS"?
At this printing, the "poll" shows 77% approving Dayton giving up the "tax revenue" allowed to Dayton by State Law.
Most people who voted for this Sales Tax increase back in 2007 (I am not one of those who approved the sales tax increase) assumed that the "tax revenue" would go to ALL Schools in Rhea County. Hence Billy Ray Patton, "campaigned on the Sales tax for Schools and that schools would not need any money for 25 years????!!!!"
But a "quirk" was found in the State law, the County applied to the State Attorney General for an "opinion" and the findings were that the City of Dayton was entitled to a portion of the sales tax by virtue of the fact, they run a city school system. So this is WHY, this question is now, "on the table".
But remember, people, even if the money is given by Dayton to the County, it is only a portion of the Money needed to build the High School!!!!!!!!
Remember, too, that the simultaneous REMODELING OF THE OLD HIGH SCHOOL must also take place. The "funding" for that project isn't in the "discussions" because it would "overwhelm" the taxpayers to think of the money needed to fund BOTH these projects at the same time!!!!!!!!!!!
"If we don't have it, we don't spend it." Pay off the indebtedness owed on the two elementary schools, and make sure the hospital is "secured". Just make due with what we have in the school system.

Budget Woes!!!!!!!!!????????
READ the Herald article on the Rhea County Budget Woes.
We, in Rhea County, do not need to be discussing a "New High School", renovations to the "Old High School", etc. we are in "FINANCIAL Problems" and should we "take on more debt"????????????????
What's interesting in this Herald article is that Bill Holland states: 85% of the "MANDATORY SCHOOL PROGRAMS" can not be "CUT", they are STATE MANDATED" (no doubt, because it is BEP money).
Where is the Authority of our LOCALLY elected SCHOOL BOARD????? Is the Commission's "JOB" to make US pay for the "MANDATORY STATE PROGRAMS"???? Many of which the LOCAL School Board and the Rhea County Citizens would like to see "changed" to suit our "distinct County" and not the "STATE FORMULA".
We need to DECLARE "COUNTY SOVEREIGNTY" from the State.
